Witnessing the last stage in developed societies, mostly, as well as developing an increase in the number of mentally retarded because of the increasing factors leading to mental retardation by the weakness of insufficient efforts and services directed her other hand, and according to statistics of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the board of the United Nations and more than a dozen residents the world are disabled.
And it notes that( 80%) out of more than (200) million disabled children in the world live in developing countries With this in mind the importance of current research has emerged which aims to : 1.measure the level of reading skills among students mentally retarded simple.
2.knowledge of the differences statistically significant in the level of reading skills among students mentally retarded backward simple variable according to sex males – females).
This research on pupils mentally retarded was limited backward Bsita.omn both sexes (males and females) were selected (60) male and female pupils indiscriminate manner.
To achieve the objectives of the research the researchers adopted a Scale reading skills (Rousan 1998), and extracted virtual and reliability by using the method of re-testing and amounted reliability coefficient (0.89) and corrupted measure in its final form (13) Paragraph .obad the application of the scale on the research sample and processed statistically was the most important Results : The average reading skills have all premise of the scale average 1 There are statistically significant differences in favor of males 2 In light of the search results researcher recommended the need for attention to the various activities that provide for mentally retarded children in an effective manner in order to help them to integrate into society as contributing to those programs to increase their use of the skills of reading programs The researcher suggested a number of studies and scientific research including: preparing a training program to modify the reading skills of children mentally retarded.
