Abstract EN

This study aimed at exploring the effectiveness of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) in reducing addiction of social networking sites among a sample of Syrian female refugees studying at the schools of Irbid Governorate, Jordan.

Participants were 30 Syrian female refugees in grades from seventh to tenth.

They were randomly assigned to two equal groups: Experimental group received SFBT and control group didn’t receive any treatment.

All participants receiving SFBT met for a total of eight 80-minute treatment sessions.

To achieve the objective of the study, a scale for measuring addiction of social networking sites was used.

The data was analyzed using t-tests and one-way MANOVA.

Results showed that there were significant differences between the two groups in the total scores and in the mean scores on all subscales in posttest and follow-up test, where the experimental group scored lower, indicating that SFBT was effective in reducing this type of addiction among Syrian female refugees
