In the last period of the contemporary era, a group of modernist readings appeared, which carries with it a re-reading of the Qur'anic revelation using contemporary Western tools and methods.

We aim through this study to establish an epistemological rapprochement between two thinkers who occupied the intellectual arena in our contemporary Arab thought, namely: Arkoun and Shahrour, by presenting a set of contemporary mechanisms for re-reading the Qur'anic text.
