Environmental crime like other crimes, is characterized by a set of general provisions to which it is subject, but due to its inclusion of environmental elements and the multiplicity of its subjects, which made it difficult to give a precise definition of this crime, thus the majority of the legislations focused on the elements and the types of this crime, and the Algerian legislator preserved this rule through the law 03-10 of 07/19/2003 relating to the protection of the environment in the sustainable development framework.

Environmental crime is associated with a specificity that has emerged through its multiple forms.

it can be linked to the protection of biological diversity and protected areas or to various natural environments or classified establishments, where each offense has its own sanction.
