As a result of the financial and accounting scandals that afflicted many countries, which revealed the extent of mixed corruption between the government and private sectors and the involvement of political leaders, lack of transparency, and about directing more attention to studying the causes of corruption and how to combat it.

This study aimed to develop the role of the government audit profession in combating corruption.

To achieve this goal, we presented, analyzed, and evaluated the scientific and practical rooting for the term corruption and its relationship to the accounting profession; And extrapolating international efforts to combat corruption and the position of the government audit profession, and devising an approach to develop government audit to combat corruption.
