This research paper focuses on one of the most strategic areas in Asia and the world, which is the South China Sea that is considered to be a geopolitical area with a great impact on regional and international relations.

And by virtue of naming the region after China and its location in the Chinese regional sphere, the latter gives a great importance to this sea for many considerations, including energy, ports and sea straits, which have driven the United States of America, in turn, to consider this area to be of a great importance that requires a significant presence and friendly relationships with the local states in it.

Hence, this study aims to present the strategic importance of the South China Sea from both the Chinese and American perspective as well as the American escalatory moves to gain the upper hand in the region; a fact that led China to adopt policies to counter the American threats in this sea.
