Abstract EN

"The study sought to identify the most prominent characteristics of the Egyptian intellectual production funded by the STDF and to know the impact of the organization's funding on the quality of this production.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher counted the Egyptian intellectual production funded by the STDF revealed in the databases WOS and SCOPUS during the period 2007 - 2019.

The inventory process resulted in the presence of 2,849 searches.

The study showed that the growth rate of research funded by the Authority is 55.7%.

Public universities are the largest contributor to intellectual production, while the National Research Center is the most contributing research institution to this production.

The Egyptian-American Joint Fund for Science and Technology is the most foreign funding body that has participated in the financing of intellectual production by the STDF.

The Egyptian intellectual production funded by the Authority has been published in 1,313 scientific periodicals, published by 230 publishers, led by the publisher Elsevier, and 93% of these periodicals have an impact factor, and that joint authorship is the common authorship pattern in intellectual production funded by the Authority.

International cooperation between Egyptian researchers and foreign researchers accounts for nearly half of intellectual production.

STDF funds a large number of 106 subjects, foremost of which are chemistry, engineering, and then pharmaceutics, and pharmacology.

The study showed a positive impact of STDF funding on the quality of Egyptian intellectual production compared to unfunded Egyptian intellectual production, whether in the value of the impact factor of the periodicals in which it was published or in the average number of citations and the average number of the use
