The political and intellectual changes and developments in Syria and Lebanon during the 19th century have contributed to the interest of many world newspapers-and the most Arab ones-in monitoring and tracking these transformations.

the newspaper el-Raed el-Tunsi was published in Tunisia in 1860.

within the first 10 years of its publication, this paper devoted a space to the events taking place in the two regions.

in this sense; this study seeks to review and analyse what the Tunisian newspaper major wrote about the most important historical stations in Syria and Lebanon during the 19th century, specifically about sectarian discord and intellectual renaissance.
