Questioning is a mechanism of parliamentary control over the work of government, as it is seen as a means of concern and accountability.

It is the most dangerous mechanism in the face of government activity.

However, previous Algerian constitutions have made it a means of inquiry, like questions, as it deviated from its role, but the amendment of the Algerian constitution for the year 2020 brought things back to normal; this is because it provided for questioning as a mechanism to raise the responsibility of the government, a collective responsibility, through the possibility of proposition the moving of the control seeker by the National People's Council without the Council of Nation.
