The study aims to shed light on the problem of the Algerian dinar exchange rate system, the extent of its impact on wages, and its effectiveness in maintaining an acceptable level of purchasing power for citizens.

For This purpose, a description and analysis approach was used.

The study revealed a large gap between the real value of wages compared to their nominal value, due to their adoption of the floating exchange system, despite their economic and monetary lack of preparation for that.
