The study aims to identify the reality of sports selection and guidance for young people in swimming, The role of trainers in this process is to select and guide the talented youth group, For this purpose, we used the descriptive approach due to its relevance to the nature of this study on a sample of thirty (30) coaches out of a total of (57) coaches representing (15) associations of the Chlef Swimming Sports Association, which were chosen randomly.

To collect the data, we used the questionnaire tool, and after collecting the data and processing it statistically, it was concluded that the competence of the trainers and the type of physical and psychological tests have a significant and effective role in the selection and guidance process for this young group.

On this basis, the study recommended that the selection process be carried out by specialists who determine the criteria adopted in the selection of sports for juniors in swimming.
