Abstract EN

This research revolves around the syntactic interpretation in Ibn Farhoun Al-Madani’s book Al-Oddah fi 'Iierab Al-Mudah.

The syntactic interpretation is a noticeable feature of the grammarians of the Holy Qur’an, and the Prophet’s hadith because it highlights the methods of analysis that are concerned with the functional meaning performed by words and structures in the text such as deletion and addition, hysteron proteron, and inclusion.

Since the interpretation and hysteron proteron are full in the period, this paper is limited to examine the two sections of deletion because they are the most mentioned and used ones among other sections.

The paper firstly gives a brief insight into Ibn Farhoun’s life, birth, sheikhs, students, writings, and death.

Then, the paper introduces his book of Al-Oddah fi 'Iierab Al-Mudah, clarifying the term interpretation in language and concepts, and the reasons for interpretation.

Next, the paper deals with an explanation of the aspects of deletion on Ibn Farhoun, and the approach adopted in interpretation.

The research paper concludes with recommendations and the most important results.

The researcher has adopted the descriptive and analytical approach in studying the subject of interpretation by deletion by tracing the words of Ibn Farhoun in his inclusion and interpretation of the deleted word.

The study shows that deletion is one of the broadest chapters and manifestations of syntactic interpretation since it has included the most sections of syntax as it is mentioned in the basis, extra, noun, verb, preposition, and conjunction.

Thus, this is a clear piece of evidence of the breadth of the Arabic language, its flexibility, and its tendency to brevity.
