Abstract EN

The importance of observing the situational context lies in removing ambiguity in some Qur’anic verses, that verbal context may fail to get its right meaning; in addition to its role in portraying scenes at time and place of occurancy.

in result it makes the Holy Qur’an context more clear and detailed, through a set of outside circumstances, that surround the text, whether social, cultural or historical...etc.

this research paper seeks to identify one of the situational context pattern in semantics studies, that contemporary linguists call: «the social context», and to highlight its role in Qur’an explanation, and directing the meaning of its words; by presenting some of its examples in the Holy Quran.

this study concluded that social context has an important function as it is complementary to the meaning, and that it is indispensable in the interpretation of the Qur’anic verse, especially since many of them include customs, traditions, values and social morals that prevailed in the dawn of Islam, so it was necessary to rely on it to illustrate those scenes and bring them closer to the receiver, starting from the meaning of the verbal context
