English Abstract

The research aims to identify the dimensions that directly and indirectly affected the Pope's visit to Iraq, its people and government, and its reflection on Iraq's political, economic and social future.

Since the Pope is not only an esteemed personality, but a president of state, this visit has clear dimensions that have been studied within the theoretical framework, which is divided into two axes (descriptive - practical).

The descriptive axis includes all the geopolitical dimensions that cast shadows on the future and development of Iraq.

Politically, the visit revealed the secret of the interest of the Western countries in Iraq and of supporting the political process and its continuation.

However, the presence of the corrupted class has prevented the progress of Iraq and its renaissance.

Usually, the arms of corruption are protected because they extend to major countries and because all of them are contributors to the looting of its wealth.

As for the economic dimension, it has been entailed that the Pope's visit will open the doors of tourism propaganda to Mesopotamia and Nasiriyah Governorate.

This can be specially achieved by employing all possibilities and ways and directing the world's attention to the city of the moon and magic (Eridu) to achieve and develop tourism and economy.

The social dimension, on the other hand, achieved peace and rapprochement between peoples and religions.

It further consolidated an interest in the Christian minority for those who remained, as well as the other minorities, whether in the Iraqi society or Arab countries.

Such a dimension represents an essential part of the fabric of their societies, not as immigrants or visitors.

The visit also revealed, through the religious dimension, that the Shiite reference of Najaf is more moderate religiously and politically than the reference of other Islamic countries.

As for the scientific axis in this research, the researcher has used a questionnaire to obtain information from members of a sample of (100) graduate students with different specializations.

Several questions were directed to the selected sample, some of them were according to their specializations, others were general or comprehensive reflecting their views and culture to the subject in question.

Then, the percentage has been extracted to analyze the topic.

The study has revealed that the political and religious dimensions are highly effective ones on the Iraqi political arena as they have geopolitical reflections on the Iraqi people and the political system of Iraq.
