Abstract EN

This study aims at delineating the extent to which women are aware of their role in the political upbringing of their children.

To this end, a questionnaire of 18 items was developed.

Each item was thoroughly revised so as to assure its stability and correctness.

The questionnaire was distributed to 114 families inside the City of Ma`an in the southern part of Jordan.

Drawing on the obtained figures, the subjects have shown medium level of awareness of their role in political upbringing of their children.

Findings also show that women do certain activities related to political affairs, but they are afraid of practicing some of them since they believe that such activities will endanger the lives of their kids.

Furthermore, results point to significant differences concerning the women`s role in political upbringing of their male and female children.

Such differences come in favor of males.

In general, findings show that women are still afraid of engaging in political affairs irrespective of their educational background.
