A scholar’s approach is a key into understanding the issues he presents.

This research introduces Ibn al Qayyim’s approach in presenting the Prophet’s life (Seerah) and military campaigns (Maghazi).

It shows how he is considered a reformer of this discipline thanks to his contributions to the fields of Maghazi and Seerah.

Among these contributions are what is known today as “ Fiqh al-Seerah” and “objective biography”.

This is added to his study of Seerah through the use of the analytical approach rather than the recounting of historical incidents, and his examination of conventional wisdoms and Fiqh provisions.

The research highlights hadith criticism in judging the narrations of the Prophet’s biography (Seerah), and the main sources he referred to.
