This article starts with a discussion of different forms of one genre of folk poetry known as Zajal , and the suitability of each variety for specific occasions .
A less detailed discussions of the different genres of men's and women’s folksongs and folk poerty follows.
The article then discusses several of the best known Palestinian folk poets.
The article ends with a discussion of the tendency in Palestinian Folk poetry' to emphasize nationalist issues which revolve around the value of the homeland and the importance of defending and protecting it.
