Abstract EN

After the folding of tow centuries since the establishment of (geography) as a science which has its own aims, methods, schools and techniques, this paper opens the pages of that period.

they carry among their folds some of the challenges which faced geography as a science and imposed on it some characteristics which the researchers and scientists of this science held and which have been predominating.

the whole of them were sometimes characterized by vagueness and sometimes by arbitrariness.

therefore, the current research attempts to consider those cases and to define their impact on the course of geography as a science and its scientific progress.

the research has come to a conclusion that those cases have caused geography some default because of the opinions and concepts its scientists and men bear and which they attempt to declare and practice far away from balance and rationality.

they were otherwise busy in debates on some issues which did not come to specific and clear views.

nevertheless, geography has discarded those cases and continued its progress coping with the scientific developments predominant in the world at present, including application in life and shedding light daringly on man's problems and issues from a geographical point of view.
