Abstract EN

In this paper, we will attempt to shed light on Lefnawi Zagher’s use of the cultural patterns in his novel ‘El Zair’(The Visitor).

We will base our study on a cultural approach based on cultural criticism which helps to explore the text and unveil the implicit and examine the dominant pattern, namely the mystical format.

We will try to answer questions such as: how did the novelist succeed to present social sufferings in a mystical format? How is this mystical pattern manifested? How did these mystical patterns contribute to the sequencing of the events of the novel?
