There are several terms that are being used in modern critical theories-particularly linguistics and semiotics-without accurate comprehensive knowledge of their scientific significance ; metalanguage discourse, as a result, deviates away from its intended scientific course.

in this article, we showcase the meaning of some semio-linguistic terms that had a tremendous effect on emphasizing objectivity and scientific accuracy in modern critical theory, such as : connotation, denotation, metalanguage, the linguistic signified, and the mundane (semiotic) signified.

it is also important to emphasize that acquiring knowledge in any discipline starts with learning its concepts, terms, and metalanguage.
