Algeria has known throughout the history of its independence a set of constitutions, each of which reflected the nature of the stage and the system of government that prevailed, and the constitutional map in Algeria has remained troubled by the turmoil of the regimes that were ruling the country, as some specialists considered that every president who ruled Algeria since 1963 has drafted a constitution according to his size And he made the constitution a vehicle to get out of any political or economic impasse that he faces, and an outlet for social relief whenever the need arises.

But after the February 22 movement and the election of the new president, whose speech reflected the desire to achieve a rupture with previous practices through political engineering based on values more open to rights and freedoms, the aspirations of the political authority to bring about change are in line with the adoption of more democratic policies based on transparency, political and economic efficiency, according to a model that depends more and more on participatory democracy and the governance of political and economic action.

This is what was stated in the draft amendment to the Algerian constitution, to be submitted to a referendum on November 1, 2020.
