Abstract EN

This article aims to present the conditions that must be met by Mujtahid, that is, the individual deemed qualified to engage in ijtihad, discussing matters in the most important Islamic jurisprudence books (i.e.

Ușūl Alfiqh books), in an organized and clear manner.

It describes the opinions of some of the early well-known Ușūl scholars on the different definitions of Ijtihad and Mujtahid, the differences between them compared to mufti and judge, the statuses of Mujtahids, and the divisibility of Ijtihad.

The study also investigates Mujtahid’s conditions historically, their different types, and their strictness or openness.

The study concludes with a detailed description of Mujtahid’s conditions mentioned in the most important Islamic jurisprudence books followed by statement determining what is required from the conditions based on the classifications of Mujtahids .
