The alternatives number - the multiple-choice test - items parameters estimation accuracy - Rasch model.

Abstract: This study aimed to Identify the effect of the alter- natives number for the multiple-choice test on the accuracy of item parameters estimation according to Rasch model in Item Response Theory.

In order to achieve this goal, a multiple-choice test have been conducted about psychosocial skills and it consists of three different versions of the same content but different in the number of alternatives for each question, each test supposed to have 40 question as the final shape, the test has been applied on (300) students targeting third-year high school students (level six) for "semester system" in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Both statistics "Bi- log-MG3" and "SPSS-V25" programs were used to analyze the collected data.

The results indicated that there are no statistically signifi- cant differences between the means of estimating the difficulty parameter of the three test versions due to the number of alterna- tives, and there were statistically significant between the means of the standard errors in estimating the difficulty parameter for the three test versions due to the number of alternatives because of the differences between the version B (four alternatives) and the version C (three alternatives) in favor of the model (B), and there were no statistically significant differences in the reliability coefficients of individuals, items, and the experimental reliabil- ity (empirical) according to the Rasch model in Item Response Theory due to the number of alternatives.

The researcher recommended awareness and guidance for authors of the tests with special foundations in writing the vocab- ulary of the multiple-choice test especially the vocabulary for the alternatives number
