Abstract EN

The study has explored trope and its influence on meaning according to Al-Syuti، one of the greatest scholars and thinkers of the 15th Century، As descriptive analytical، the study has aimed to examine the link between trope and semantics according to Al-Syuti، The study concluded that Al-Syuti has categorized metaphor، simile، metonymy، preterit ion، elision، abbreviation and addition as types of trope.

Trope، hence contributes to language and semantic development of a word by using metaphor، metonymy or simile.

Trope can expand the meaning of a word so that a word can have more than one meaning i.e.

polysemous according to modern linguists.

In addition to lexical meaning، the word will have more synonyms، as a result new terms are formed.
