Abstract EN

The research aims to determine the degree of the big five personality factors among secondary stage students in al-Baha region, reveal the prevalence of traditional bullying and cyber bullying (victim and bully) forms, and determine which of the big five personality factors predicts the bullying behavior.

the research adopted the correlational descriptive approach.

the researcher used the scale of big five personality factors developed by al-Shorbaji and al-Harbi (2011) in addition to a scale of bullying in its two forms (traditional-cyber) (victim and bully) developed by the researcher.

the validity and reliability were verified.

a stratified randomly sample was selected with (471) students.

the results: the ranking of the big five personality factors descendingly as follows: openness, agreeableness, extroversion, conscientiousness, and neuroticism.

the prevalence rate of traditional bullying (victims) is (22.7%) more than cyberbullying(victims) (13.4%), while the prevalence rate of bullying traditional and cyberbullying (bully) (6.8%) has the same rate.

the results have indicated that the agreeableness and neuroticism are the most significant factors contributing to predict traditional bullying and cyber bullying (victim - bully).

there were no differences in the prevalence rates of traditional bullying and cyberbullying (victim - bully) attributed to the different variables, school achievement, and hours of mobile use.

however, there were significant differences for in the prevalence rate in cyberbullying (victim) and cyberbullying and traditional bullying (bully) that can be attributed to the grade variable in favor of third grade.
