Abstract EN

This study investigates The psychometric properties of the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) using the Graded Response Model(GRM).

To achieve this purpose, the (BDI-II), consisting of (21) items, was administered to (599) selected students from Psychology Department of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, They are divided into (306) males and(293) females.

Responses were analyzed using GRM based on IRTPro v4.2 program .

The results indicated that GRM assumptions of (BDI-II) were achieved, Results show that responses to (21) items match the assumptions of the GRM except item (5), Results show also that (503) individuals were fit to the model Assumptions.

The results indicated that the marginal Reliability of the scale was (0.86), And that the amount of information was high at different levels of continuum of the ability, which means that the abilities of individuals were accurately estimated, especially those with high abilities on the continuum of the ability.

The results also indicate that males suffer from depression more than females in some terms of the scale.
