Abstract EN

Algeria has made great steps in the area of political empowerment of women in various elected councils, particularly after the issuance of the law n°12/03) which defines the modalities of expanding woman representation in the various elected assemblies of 2012.

However, there were many difficulties as for this law implementation in the last local elections, related notably to woman's reluctance to take part in such elections due to many reasons and obstacles that hindered her to run in the elections.

Henceforth, our study came to shed light upon various obstacles to run in local elections from her point of view in accordance with the variable of place of residence; such obstacles are tightly linked with the society, political parties as well as personal obstacles related to woman herself.
