Abstract EN

None of us disagree on the fact that just talking about the issue of women's sport in Iraq in general and in Mosul in particular is a conversation with frustrations and for several reasons, the most important of which are the social reasons that relate to customs and traditions inherited from generation to generation and which are overwhelmed by the fact that women were created for the home and to serve the family by raising children and preparing the atmosphere.

The suitability for the happiness of the family with all its members, starting with the head of the family and passing through the remaining family members, 'and for these and other reasons, it was difficult for the Iraqi and Mosul women in particular to break into the world of sports and its various segments that are open to each other and to the segments of society in general.

' Accordingly, despite the presence of materials and sports talents in many Mosul families.

However, she remained a captive of the house, doing her family duties with all openness.

As a result of the semi-radical changes in Iraqi society that coincided with the establishment of the republican regime in 1958, Iraqi and Mosul women found opportunities for them, albeit insignificant, to express their physical athletic capabilities, through schools that spread in the country after the establishment of the republican system, where the activities of schoolgirls during the monarchy were not Almost remember.

The decade of the sixties and seventies of the twentieth century came for women in Iraq and Mosul to accept some sporting activities and their various activities, and the two games of basketball and volleyball were the most prominent among these activities.

The research deals with the early beginnings of female sporting activity in Iraq and Mosul with some shortness, with a focus on one of the sports clubs specialized in women's sports in Mosul and its use as a model for this women's sports movement in Mosul, which is the Girl's Sports Club in Nineveh, which was established in 1993 and its various sports activities are still continuing until this point.

Today, it is competing for several national championships with the rest of the girls' clubs in other provinces of Iraq.
