Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of teaching based practical demonstrations on achievement and motivation of learning of biology subject among high school students in Iraq.

semi-experimental approach for two unequal groups with two test a post- test and a pretest was used.

randomly, two classes were chosen, the first assigned as experimental group consisted of 32 female students and the other was the control group consisted of 28 female students.

in order to achieve the objectives of the study, two instruments were developed : an achievement test and a questionnaire to measure the motivation towards learning, and both instruments were verified in terms of validity and reliability.

the main findings of the study are : there is statistical difference in the average scores of students between the experimental and the control group in the achievement and motivation towards learning, in favor of the experimental group.

some recommendations were suggested based on the research findings.

the main recommendation is to emphasize the teaching based practical demonstrations in teaching biology subject among high school students in Iraq.
