Abstract EN

Although it has enormous water resources, Iraq today encounters the initiating of significant challenges.

However, the serious consequences of these challenges will appear in the future if it is not dealt with as a real problem and seek now on to find suitable scientific solutions to avoid it in the future.

The imbalance in water stability has become apparent to the public, and this is due to the widening of the water gap between the water supply and the demand for it.

Accordingly, it has become an urgent necessity to address this serious problem by using modern and highly efficient irrigation methods and reducing water losses for sustainable agricultural development in Iraq.

The current paper sheds light on the Iraqi water potential and ways to ensure sustainable agricultural development through moving from traditional to modern irrigation methods and their role in achieving sustainable agricultural development by looking at some of the available data on Iraq.

The research concluded with a set of conclusions and recommendations, which would contribute to dealing with water wealth with high efficiency and modern scientific methods, using them efficiently and reducing water losses in order to establish sustainable agricultural development.

As for the most important recommendations, it was necessary to establish a local industry for modern irrigation tools and support it financially.
