The Constitution of the Kingdom of Morocco of 2011 stipulated the right to life, and the law was tasked with protecting this right.

This stipulation is considered one of the most important developments in the 2011 constitution, at a time when previous constitutions avoided any discussion of the right to life, which is the first right and allows the enjoyment of the rest of the other rights.

On the other hand, the criminal law arranges the death penalty for a group of crimes, which makes it in the face of the constitutional right to life, and although its implementation has been suspended in Morocco since 1993, its pronouncement still raises societal divisions about the feasibility and effectiveness of this punishment.
