Abstract EN

In this article the researcher begins by presenting the two main ways of handling the dialectical question of the relationship between security and identity.

the first one shows the development of the two concepts using the main theoretical approaches of international relations.

the second try to links threat perceptions and conceptions of security with the definition of identity.

the article then examines two types of theoretical approaches toward this question : the authentic one, which proposes an essentialist, rather static concept of identity ; and the alternative approaches, which see the relationship as very malleable.
