Abstract EN

This research paper aims to study the different dimensions of combating environmental crimes in the European Union.

In fact, the EU adopts a comprehensive and multidimensional policy; which includes a legal, security, and judicial part.

Today, the EU has a firm conviction that combating environmental crimes requires an effective legal and judicial framework, a strong institutional organization, efficient security institutions, as well as strengthening international cooperation, especially in the exchange of evidences, information and the conduct of criminal investigations.

This research paper reached a number of conclusions and proposals, the most important of which is that the EU has created an internal police, which is the "Europol" charged with fighting environmental crime in its countries.

In addition, The Covid pandemic has led to a noticeable increase in environmental crimes in the EU, so, it adopted a new draft directive on criminal protection of the environment in December of last year.
