Abstract EN

This study aims to find the impact of artistic discourse on artworks marketing in Algeria, through a semiotic analysis of a sample of the contemporary Algerian artist Khaled Sebaa’s paintings.

in order to answer the studies problematic, the semiotic analysis, specifically Roland Barthes’s approach, was followed and other data collection tools like observation and interview, and others that fall within the approach such as nomination and inclusion tools.

the most prominent findings of this study are : contemporary painting consists of artistic standards the artist takes into account while making the painting, which is a system of encrypted signs that require a deep analysis to decipher their codes, reveal their meanings, the way they affect the recipient in general and the Algerian one in particular.

various artistic standards employed by the artist constitute the artistic discourse of his artworks and directly contribute to their marketing.
