The study seeks to clarify the current trends in library collection development, in a general climate of technology.

It’s adopted a descriptive method, started by explaining the collection development processes and the challenges that face them and thus recognizing the most important methods followed today by libraries to develop their collections in a good way that ensures quickly and easily the patrons’ needs and be useful for the rationalization of their collections and budgets.

It is clear from the study, that the collection development faces a considerable challenge relevant to the technology, for that the libraries focus on empowering professionals to use technology; it is a huge information resources and methods to develop it in libraries.

Finally, the technology as a challenge to develop the library’s collection establishes the basis of creating the current methods to the collection development; it ensures a quick execution and rationalization of budgets.
