Abstract EN

This study aims to determine the size and the development of traffic accidents in Algeria during the period 2000-2019.

moreover, it reveals the demographic and economic determinants of traffic accidents.

The DRAG model was used for the standard study based on data derived from the National Center for Road Safety and Prevention.

The researcher used the analytical descriptive method using SPSS as an analytical tool.

Among the results found was the link between traffic accidents and several demographic and economic factors such as (population in rural areas, vehicle distance travelled, injury rate, death rate).

to prevent this phenomenon, traffic awareness has become necessary, including the introduction of traffic education in the educational curricula, the publication of scientific research and studies, the development and the improvement of the system of training on driving, road repair and equipping with signs and lighting.
