Throughout history and to this day, the Mediterranean Basin has been of great military and commercial importance by virtue of its mediating three continents, making it the object of a struggle for dominance between the international powers of every age beginning with the Old Age.

In this historical article, we address the importance of the port of Bejaia in the trade of the Mediterranean Basin, at a time when the city was a mandate of the Almohad Authority, with the aim of making a comparison between the status and importance of the port of the city, which is the capital of the Hamadian state, and its status as a port of this state on the one hand.

On the other hand, the aim is to compare the commercial activity between the anchors of the Islamic Maghreb, because its operation was in the hands of one authority, the Almohad State.

Addressing the problem required following the comparative approach in the first place, in light of the emergence of competing Maghrebi ports.

The nature of the issue also required the statistical method to produce results that were nearly accurate for this comparison
