Abstract EN

This study aims to recognize the nature of the media treatment concerning the phenomenon of crime in Algerian private satellite channels, by looking at how Echorouk TV addressed the topics of crime in the program of Jinayat.

This is through the analysis of the first season episodes of the program in question for 2020, based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of the categories in form and content, as well as based on the content analysis tool, and by using the survey method.

The results of the study concluded that the topics of media treatment regarding the phenomenon of crime included the types of crime.

Furthermore, murder and smuggling crimes were at the highest percentage.

The reasons for the crime were mostly due to moral decay and dire economic conditions such as unemployment and poverty.
