Abstract EN

We aim from this study to define the current financial position of the retirement system in Algeria represented by the national pension fund, to determine the causes of its imbalance and to study the future financial position of the fund in the absence of effective reforms by studying some economic and social indicators affecting directly or indirectly on the retirement fund.

we concluded that the Algerian pension fund will suffer from a large financial deficit in the horizons of 2050 as a result of the increase in retirement expenses resulting from the increase in the number of retirees and life expectancy, on the other hand, the volume of revenues will increase by a small percentage compared to the volume of expenditures due to the limited contributions paid as a result of the high unemployment rate.

therefore, to ensure the financial sustainability, work must be done to diversify the sources of financing the fund and to introduce effective reforms to the pension system.
