This paper posits that Jaffar Al-Khalili’s stories are not modern fiction.

They are, rather, an attempted mixture of diaries, thoughts, short stories, and personalized essays.

A snap look at these stories quickly attracts readers’ attention to the absence of modern-day techniques of fiction and story-telling.

Given the period of this writer, the ongoing world war, and Iraq’s the-then deteriorated conditions, no modern story-telling techniques are available in Al-Khalili’s poems.
