Abstract EN

This study describes the state of thought and research on the topic of values in contemporary university education, with the aim of understanding this state and its implications.

It delineates how universities define the philosophy of values in university education, and it attempts to capture the relationship of university values to academic values, organizational culture, quality assurance systems, and religion.

It also looks at the global competition between universities that is based on philosophy of values in university education.

The study prompts us to consider a future vision in which educational reform efforts based on universal, civilizational values are integrated in universities.

The study holds that contemporary Muslims can make an important civilizational contribution to the world by shifting from merely addressing the challenges of globalization in university education to deploying the opportunities of globalization, developing ideas and practices towards the philosophy of values in university education.
