Abstract EN

This paper explores the processes of change that occur in pricing practices after organisations being privatised and/or faced intensive competition.

in addition, it investigates the impact of institutional and economic factors on pricing practices.

therefore, in order to achieve the objectives of the study, the research strategy is addressed by examining a case study based on two privatised manufacturing companies in Libya.

it draws on triangulation of data collection and multiple sources of evidence including interviews, observations and documents.

an institutional framework from new institutional sociology (NIS), old institutional economics (OIE) and power mobilisation are derived to help clarify the processes of change.

the case study was carried out during four stages of data collection in 2008-2009 and 2013-2014.

the study finds that there are some divergences between the companies about adoption specific pricing practices.

also, the main factor affects the pricing practices is competitive pressures.

it concludes with suggestions for future study is made.
