English Abstract
urpose : The study aimed to conduct a content analysis of Science and Life textbooks for the basic stage and provide a suggested proposal to enrich them in light of the twenty-first century skills necessary for integration in work and life.

Instrument : The researcher used the content analysis tool to analyze the content of Science and Life textbooks for the lower basic stage.

Sample : The study sample consisted of the study population represented by the four Science and Life textbooks for the lower basic stage for the third and fourth grades in Palestine used in the two semesters of the scholastic year 2019-2020.

Methodology : For the purpose of the study, the researcher followed the descriptive analytical approach.

The results showed that the twenty-first century skills that must be available in Science and Life textbooks are nine main skills, namely: critical thinking and problem-solving skills, communication and cooperation skills, innovation and creativity skills, computing and information technology culture skill, flexibility and adaptation skill, initiative and self-direction skill, social skills, multi-cultural understanding, productivity and accountability skill, leadership and responsibility skill.

The study results revealed a clear discrepancy in percentage of the skills included in Science and Life textbooks for the lower basic stage.
The results also showed a discrepancy in percentage in the three fields: learning and innovation skills, digital culture skills, and life and profession skills; they were 52.52%, 3.73%, and 43.74%, respectively.

Recommendations : The most important recommendations of the study are: 40.

It is recommended that the content analysis tool prepared in the light of the twenty-first century skills be used to analyze science textbooks for other educational stages.

It is necessary that Science and Life curricula for the lower basic stage include scientific activities that help in developing students’ skill of using modern technology.

It is recommended that the results of the current study be benefited from in developing science and life curricula for the lower basic stage.
