French colonialism in Maghreb and the mutual political and military interaction between Algeria and Tunisia.

In this study, the various activities and events that took place in the Algerian and Tunisian arenas were traced.

The cases of official and public interaction between the two countries were tackled in a systematic study as well as ensuring to carefully observe the contributions of each party in an integrated manner.

We attempt to reveal the depth of communication between two countries, and people who are linked together by bloodbaths and unified in their goals by ordeals and events so much that their meeting on the strife and intellectual level is a source of admiration and pride.

Furthermore, we aim to expand the historical space that was given to many historical concepts and personalities.

lherefore, some intellectual and political models that embodied the Algerian and Tunisian contribution were deliberately mentioned in a general, spontaneous form away from any ideological background.

The fundamental questions needed to be solved, discussed and then answered in this study are: W'hat are the manifestation of political and military solidarity between the Tunisian-Algerian people in the period of public resistance against the French Occupation (1830-1900) ? W'hat are the main features of the political and intellectual participation of Algerians and Tunisians in both national movements during the period (1900-1939)? W'hat is the Tunisian role (official and public) towards the Algerian revolution? The study assumes, by relying on a number of primary sources, that the Algerian and Tunisian elites who led the march of the national movement throughout the colonial period have succeeded in raising the issue of Maghreb unity through various political and intellectual activities.

"Ihey were also able to employ coordination structures and joint struggle to serve the national issue.

However, it faltered in contributing to raising a national unity awareness based on political unity after independence.

The findings of the research state that the national movement in both countries was not an isolated case in intellectual and struggle programs, declared goals, solidarity, and, cooperation and unity to achieve freedom or national independence.
