Abstract EN

The research aims to clarify the concepts and objectives of urban transportation planning, analyze the costs of road transportation by cars, transport and traffic problems in Iraqi cities, and the mechanisms for addressing urban transport problems in Iraq.

A set of applied mechanisms economic and non-economic solutions have been proposed to address urban transport problems, including develop mechanisms to change the official start times in ministries, government departments and universities, setting dates for the entry of trucks to city centers, in addition to the short and medium-term economic solutions that focus on imposing a carbon tax, and long-term strategic economic solutions that focus on building and investing in traffic infrastructure projects, and the long-term strategic non-economic solutions focused on the use of modern technologies and modern urban planning methods.
