Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a program of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and a program of Study Skills Training (SST), in enhancing attitudes towards school and intrinsic academic motivation among a grade male students.

These students were selected from a Jordanian th sample of (66) 9 public school based on their low scores on attitudes towards school and intrinsic motivation scales.

They were randomly assigned to three equal groups: Two experimental groups and one control group, one experimental group received a program of REBT, the other experimental group received a program of study skills training, and the control group received no treatment.

The results indicated that the two programs were more effective in enhancing attitudes towards school and intrinsic academic motivation, compared to the control group at the posttest.

Also, it was found that REBT was more effective than SST in enhancing attitudes towards school, whereas SST was more effective than REBT in enhancing intrinsic academic motivation.

Suggestions for future research included replication of the present study among other grade levels and among males and females.
