Abstract EN

The study amid to investigate the degrees of postpartum depression in Hebron governorate in the Palestinian environment, and to investigate the postpartum depression among Palestinian women in Hebron Directorate according to childbirth frequency, gender of the newborn, mother’s age, the postpartum period, and social support.

The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale was administrated on convenient sample of 118 women (M= 22.5y).

The results showed a high rates prevalence of postpartum depression, and existence of negative correlation between women’s age and depression postpartum, and a negative relationship with the period after birth.

It also resulted differences in the degrees of postpartum depression due to the gender of the newborn in favor of females, and the presence of differences in the degrees of postpartum depression due to the degree of suffering during pregnancy in favor of the severely suffering group, and a presence of differences attributable to social support in favor of the high supported group.
