The commitment to credibility is one of the most important journalistic obligations in general, and electronic journalism in particular because of the huge technological development taking place in the World Wide Web.

This development led to the rapid spread of news in a short period of time, which significantly and noticeably affected the credibility of the news and consequently the loss of confidence between the reader and journalist.

This lack of confidence is due to the fact that the published news is not true, which leads to doing harm to others.

This harm could be in the form of material or moral damage.

Based on that, the victim has the right to claim compensation before the competent court by filing a compensation claim that could be done by filing a direct lawsuit against the journalist (personal liability claim) for the harm committed by the journalist towards others.

It could also be a (precautionary lawsuit) that can be instituted against the subordinate and responsible for the actions of his subordinate, such as the press institution that is responsible for the journalist’s work.

The compensation here is considered the fair penalty incurred by the journalist who breaches his commitment to credibility, and the compensation may be in kind, or it may be in return, which in turn is divided into cash and non-cash.
