Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate primary school teachers’ knowledge of learning disabilities.

The participants were (152) teachers.

The researcher designed a 45-items survey to determine the teachers’ knowledge of learning disabilities.

The results indicated that teachers possess an average knowledge of learning disabilities.

There was a significant difference in the mean score of knowledge concerning gender, experience in working with students with learning disabilities, years of teaching experience, and level of an academic degree.

Female teachers have better knowledge than males.

Teachers who have experience with students with LD have better knowledge than those who do not have experience.

Teachers with teaching experience less than five years, 6-10, and 16 years and more have better knowledge than those with 11-15 years of working experience.

It was also found that teachers with a Bachelor’s degree or above have better knowledge than those who hold a degree less than Bachelor’s.

Also, there was no significant difference in the mean score of knowledge because of attending training courses in special education or level of elementary grade.

Some recommendations were presented based on the results of the study
