Abstract EN

This study aims to estimate life expectancy at birth for citizen by gender at provinces areas level of Saudi Arabia and to identify the spatial variation of life expectancy at birth between male and female at provinces areas of Saudi Arabia.

The data used to achieve these aims is detailed results of the general population and housing census 2010.

To estimate life expectancy at birth, the abridged life tables were constructed.

The results of study are presented in thematic maps, tables and charts.

The study revealed that the life expectancy at birth ranges from 70.1 year in Al-Riyadh to 79.4 year in Al-Madinah Al-Munawara for citizen (9.3 year difference), and from 69.5 year in Al-Riyadh to 78.3 year in Al-Madinah Al-Munawara for male (8.8 year difference), and from 70.6 year in Al-Riyadh to 81.9 year in Najran for female (11.3 year difference).

Al-Riyadh was classified as a very low life expectancy at birth for citizen, male and female.

The life expectancy at birth for female in Al-Riyadh is lower than life expectancy at birth for female in low income countries.

Al-Madinah Al-Munawara, Najran and Tabouk were classified as a very high life expectancy at birth for citizen.

While Al-Madinah Al-Munawara was classified as a very high life expectancy at birth for male, and Najran was classified for female.
